Today’s biomass fuel pelletizing equipment is mainly divided into three types: flat mode, horizontal ring mode and our Mingchuang vertical ring mode. In the biomass field, more ring mode equipment is used. Before investing in building a factory, the choice of granulating equipment is a very important one. Today, I will briefly compare and evaluate the two mainstream granulators for everyone. I hope it will help.
1.Feeding method:
Horizontal: Ring die is vertical from top to bottom and then turn 90-degree into pellet making die
Vertical: Ring die a flat die, mouth up, from top to bottom goes into the pellet making die directly
Because sawdust is very light, it is not easy to turn a bend. While the vertical ring die is straight down, the sawdust fall by Gravity factors. When the sawdust go into the die, it will be thrown to the surrounding by the pressure roller rotation , then make pellet evenly.
2.Pellet making method:
Horizontal ring die is the die turn, roller rotation assisted, high-speed rotation, the pellets follow the turn in the die, the pellets can easily be smashed, and there are a large number of irregular particles or flour.
Vertical ring die is the roller rotate, the die does not move, the pellets will not be rejection twice. Therefore, the pellet forming rate of the vertical ring die pellet mill is higher than the horizontal ring die pellet mill
- Machine Structure
Horizontal ring die pellet mill’s granulation chamber is sealed. During the press process, due to extrusion, the sawdust will appear high temperature and will be higher and higher. Under high temperature, the ring die often damages the bearing, the bearing is Core of the machine. Changing the bearing will cause higher cost, lower capacity and wasting production time.
Most horizontal ring die pellet mill does not have an automatic lubrication system for roller so the roller needs add a grease manually each 2-4 hours. It greatly increases the cost and labor intensity. Some machines can automatically add grease, will occurs grease add too much and infiltration into the box body, damage to equipment operation. So the cost is a big expense.
Vertical ring die pellet mill is upwardly open, easy to radiating. The machine also has a set of dust collecting and cooling system (particle extrusion chamber, a particle outlet), can make sure the pellet mill running at a constant temperature. The full range has automatic lubrication system, cutting down the artificial labor intensity, reducing the cost of production, bearings are not easily damaged too.
Horizontal ring die is one layer die, but vertical ring die is double-layer die and can reduce the cost of customer replacement of the mold.
4. Machine Operating:
Horizontal ring die is placed horizontal on one side of the machine, lifted by a large axis. Such a big heavy ring die in one side, it can imagine how much pressure and torque the bearing bears. When the machine is running, it is easily damaged for torque reason.
Vertical ring die is placed axis vertical, forged iron and large steel bearing housing, to reduce its bearings to withstand any pressure. The large axis is short which can reduce the pressure. Obviously the machine is not easy to damage, prolong the working time.
Horizontal ring die rotating speed is more than 200, vertical ring die is 75. It is like the car’s torque, when rotating speed fast, torque is small, Slow speed, large torque force. The wood in the South and Southeast Asia are hardwood, need equipment with large torque force.
Horizontal ring die uses a six-stage motor, vertical ring die use a four-stage motor. In the case of the same power, the efficiency of six-stage motor is lower than the four-stage motor. At the same time, six-stage motor replacement and maintenance costs far higher than the four-stage motor.
